TBI TACH

Whilst Tracey and Co. are at the theater, I got the Tracker TBI tach working with the Sami dials

#1 warmup idle, #2 warm idle ...this thing warms up and idles so smoothly now.

Merry Christmas

CARB TO INJECTION CONVERSION

The Sami has a 1.6 8v motor out of a Tracker, and the previous owner had installed a MySide 1 adapter with a Harley Davidson carb.
After 6 months of tinkering, I'm not able to set a reliable base tune on the carb, so the Throttle Body Injection from the donor rig is getting installed.

When I heard the donor rig run, I was super impressed with the how it ran.

The great thing about the TBI setup in the donor, is that it's a completely separate harness to the Sami, so it should be an easy swap, because all I need is the harness, ECU, intake manifold with all the TBI components and the O2 sensor.

The TBI fuel pump needs to be 30 PSI or better, compared with the carb which needs 1.5 to 2.5 PSI.

For the fuel pump, I didn't want to butcher the Sami gas tank, so I bought an Airtex E2000 fuel pump  which will install externally inline.

Had to re-tap the O2 sensor hole as the treads on the blank were completed messed up.

Connected the big fat white 12v wire of the TBI harness to the Sami ignition key via a relay.

LWB SAMURAI TRAILER CONVERSION

Buddy of mine was selling his 1986 LWB Suzuki Samurai for $900, so I had to buy it as spares for these where we live are rare!!
I sold $550 of it before I started tearing it down. That left me with a lot of good parts; motor, rad, steering box, trans, tcase, complete axles with high steer, leafs, doors and a windshield which I need and priced up at $260+HST.
So I've really nothing in it right now, and I don't plan of dumping a whole bunch of money into it :)

Everything mechanical is low mileage, new or in great shape.

Motor is a purring 1.6 8v Tracker like my other 2 motors, but this one is TBI with only 108k.
Transmission is Tracker, so not divorced tcase like the other Samurai.

Axles are Spring Over Axle with custom high steer and 5.13s, which I will probably swap out.

Doors, windshield glass and everything seat back is mostly ok.

Awesome 31x15 BFG A/T's (sold)

The motor and all of its wiring and computer is completely separate to the truck wiring, so it didn't take much to pull the motor.

It's got a bigger rad and fan,

I'll swap out the windshield.

Transfer case was drained...all that came out was water an a small mount of oil.

Motor has the same wet spot as the motor in the other Zuk. Looks like it could be coming from the rocker cover or distributor seal - common fail points.

There's a good sized hole in either side of the inner fenders. I might have to buy replacement generic wheel wells from PA.

Also plenty of little holes to weld up.

This is never gonna have the time and money put into it to get it to be a show quality trailer. It'll see the woods, and it'll either be just a plain trailer, or I'll make it into a camping trailer with some kind of hinged/retractable trailer-top-tent contraption. IDK yet.

I think I'll box out the front up to the B pillar, so it can be used for coolers or storage. Then I need to decide what to do next.
